Research in ProgressDecember 1942 issue of "What's New," a journal published by the pharmaceutical company Abbott Laboratories. The cover of the journal features a drawing by Kauffer. On a reddish-brown ground, a hand stabbed with a dagger that has a yellow swastika on its red hilt. Blood drips out of the stab wound onto the floor. Next to the bloody hand, a piece of sliced bread. At top of page, on either side of the dagger's hilt, in yellow text: FOR THE CONQUERED -; at bottom in white and yellow text: STEEL! / NOT BREAD. On the gray spine of the journal, at left, in black script text: what’s new.
