Description

Two African American women are seated on the porch of an unsophisticated and weathered frame or log dwelling. A toddler plays at their feet. An empty ladder-back chair stands in the center door entrance, and a pail is stored in the corner. This cabin has two glass-pane windows, a single stone or brick chimney, and a wood shingle roof. Barrels sit in the yard on either side of the porch. A wide river appears in the background.
