Description
William Jackson was the son of Major Timothy Jackson and Sarah Winchester. His first wife was Hannah Woodward, daughter of Ebenezer Woodward and Catherine Fuller. His second wife was Mary Bennett, daughter of David and Sarah Bennett. He manufactured soap and candles. From 1829-1832 he served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He then served in the United States House of Representatives from 1833-1837 as an Anti-Masonic candidate. William was a chief founder of the Newton Temperance Society, a founder of the Liberty Party and served as the president of Newton Savings Bank.
