New York"James Miller M'Kim forwards to William Lloyd Garrison a gold draft for $150, issued from the American Freedman's Union Commission to cover Garrison's travel expenses to Chicago, with assurances that Garrison's expenses for his return trip will be paid out at a "future time". M'Kim relates the delight of Bishop Payne that Garrison and George Thompson will be accompanying him on their rail journey to Chicago. M'Kim forwards to Garrison a number of documents for review, and assures him that their Annual Report, presently being printed, will be of good use to Garrison once it is available. M'Kim offers to Garrison his commentary on the "efforts made by certain parties to take away from us the confidence of the religious", and asserts that their movement "is a religious one"
