The materials in this folder help document the preparations for Freedom Summer, the living conditions of Mississippi blacks, and some of the internal politics of COFO. It contains information about COFO's history, political program, organizational structure, and its 1963-1965 plans for voter registration, community centers, freedom schools, and the Democratic National Convention (1964)--as well as references to the violence the group encountered. It also includes an analysis of recent laws designed to curb civil rights work passed by the Mississippi State Legislature, the March 1964 plans for a Freedom Day in LeFlore County, an account of his arrest and jail experiences by Rabbi Soloff, several multi-paged lists of white violence from 1960-1964 in Mississippi, "The General Condition of the Mississippi Negro," "The Canton Story," "The Mississippi Delta, Part II," "A Call for Support of the Young Democratic Clubs of Mississippi," a Young Democratic Club newsletter, a "Freedom News" news
