The 1903 Minnesota Soldiers and Sailors Monument, also known as the Josias R. King Monument, on the capitol grounds in St. Paul, the capital city of Minnesota and, with Minneapolis, one of the state's "Twin Cities." King was the first Minnesotan to volunteer to fight for the Union in the Civil War; the Grand Army of the Republic commissioned this statue, which commemorates all the brave soldiers of the war
