Holograph, signed.May's writing near the address reads, "Rec'd May 22, '51. Ans'd Nov. 17."The concluding portion of the letter is dated May 6th.Title supplied by cataloger.Lupton mentions the visit of William and Ellen Craft. He tells May that Mr. W. E. Foster arranged a meeting at which William Craft spoke. Lupton suggests that the Crafts acquire an education. He says that Henry "Box" Brown and William Wells Brown are both lecturing in Yorkshire. Lupton mentions the Empire Exposition and the large number of people coming to see it. He deplores Dr. Orville Dewey's attitude toward the Fugitive Slave Law and suggests a demonstration toward slavery in London during the summer.
