Holograph, signedClarissa G. Olds wrote this letter to Miss Weston, presumably Anne Warren Weston. Clarissa G. Olds expresses sympathy for those who labor in the abolition cause. She sends five dollars for the bazaar or to be used as she thinks best for the cause. Clarissa G. Olds writes: "Prejudice against Garrisonism and Come-outism is prevalent and strong here; but truth is spreading, and developing character, and gaining adherents." She hopes for an anti-slavery lecturer in this vicinity. She refers to the "recent tragic scenes at Christiana and at Syracuse." She extols the courage of the abolitionists. Clarissa G. Olds's gift was delayed by the protracted illness of her husband
