HolographTitle supplied by catalogerMay's handwritten list on the first page indicates that the notes include "Minutes of Speech on U.S. Constitution, before Leic. A.S. Association, Tues. Evg. July 7, 1846," Letters of Henry Vincent (Liberator, Jan. 30, 1846)," and an "article from Cincinnati Philanthropist, Value of S. Union to Massachusetts, Liberator, Jan. 16."These notes seem to have been taken at a series of meetings of the Leicester Anti-Slavery Association during the summer and fall of 1846. Most of the discussions focused on support of the Constitution and voting for pro-slavery candidates. There were also arguments about the suppression of the slave trade by England and America and the conduct of the American churches respecting slavery
