Enjoying refreshments at the event, above, are Mmes. Howard Tomlinson Jr., Tarzana; William Boyer, Reseda, and Gene Biedebach, Woodland Hills, members of the Valley Hollywood Bowl Committee. Other Valley volunteers attending were Mmes. J. Donald Tichenor, committee chairman; Herbert E. Philbrook, A. Rayborn Phillips Jr., Robert Anderson, Howell C. Johnson, Bertram Perkins, Howard Tomlinson Jr., Alan O. Abel, Richard E. Schneider, Thomas J. Phillips II, Robert Gaugenmaier, Gene Bryson, Richard A. Hogan, Wallace Watkin, James Patrick Lane, Willard E. Badham III, Jack Bruno, Donald Kreinheder, Alan C. Rose, John Moritz, Irving J. Spiro, Robert Schafhausen, John Stratton, Leon Leonian, Douglas Bothwell, J. Roderick Turner, William Stulla, Hollis D. Bourland and William M. Harper. The special program was highlighted by John Houseman, producer of King Lear, presenting Agnes Moorhead and Franz Waxman in music and Shakespeare. Strolling minstrels were portrayed by costumed UCLA students." The picnic was held in the Hollywood Bowl patio.
