Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white paper. Under the second line of the letter the number "10" is written in pencil, while along the tail edge "Ms.A.1.2 v.37P.7B" is also written in pencil. After completing the second page, the letter continues on the first page, where it is written vertically along the spine, then head edges.Lucretia Mott writes to Richard Davis Webb about the "radical pamphlets" he sent her, stating that she read them multiple times and showed them to others before sending them "to Professor Magill & other teachers at our Swarthmore College." She says that she agrees that the Scriptures "should not be read indiscriminately in schools or in any elementary training" and quotes Theodore Parker to express her "love [of] the Scriptures". Mott then comments on a letter she received from Sarah Pugh about Webb's home and she shares her wish that he "might come to Pennsylv[ania] for a permanency". She also mentions Pugh's telling "of the all too sudden passing from us of our loved Abby Kimber".
