Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink in white paper. In the head- spine corner of the first page is drawn a small checkmark in pencil, and above the salutation the number "56" is also written in pencil. Along the head edge there is wood-engraved image of a chained slave on one knee. Adjacent to the image, towards the fore edge of the page, there is a circular purple stamp that reads "Garrison MSS." Along the spine edge, about halfway down the page, there is the remnant of a red circular seal. On the verso, the delivery address is "William Lloyd Garrison Northampton Mass." It was postmarked with a blue circular stamp that reads "Concord N.H. Sep 14".Nathaniel Peabody Rogers writes to William Lloyd Garrison about his "indignation at [Daniel] O'Connell in the Herald" for what he had written about Rogers. Rogers claims the writing "betrays what Richard Webb says is true of him, that he has no moral integrity." Rogers also discusses the Liberty Party, stating, "I am afraid our friends at the West are giving too much ... consequence to [the] Liberty Party."
