Harris, Charles Teenie

Description

Emmanuel Jew" McPherson, his wife, and three men with drinks at the bar of Crawford Grill No. 2, located at 2141 Wylie Avenue in the Hill District. One of the men wears a military uniform. McPherson was involved in the numbers racket with Gus Greenlee, owner of the Crawford Grill, and William "Woogie" Harris, the photographer's brother. Greenlee and McPherson were listed as co-owners of Crawford Grill No. 1 in 1951. Greenlee opened No. 2 in 1943 and it is still in business. It can be recognized by its distinctive murals of tropical scenes. Clothing styles suggest a date in the 1940s."
