Thomas, Patrick

Description

This small folder contains a variety of letters to his father by or relating to a volunteer from Palo Alto. One letter from the volunteer is in the form of an affidavit in which he says that it will be very hard for him to leave the people in Vicksburg but equally hard for him to stay; another letter tells of his growing appreciation of blacks; a letter from his project director presents a pretty scary view of the civil rights workers' situation; a later letter from Patrick to his father tries to reassure him and explains the MFDP challenge strategies and rationale; in a final letter, the volunteer tries to sum up his feelings about the summer. Also included is COFO's pamphlet on the MFDP and its convention challenge.
