Description
Statistical reports from County Commissioners, the School Fund and the Normal School including the number of children in each school society, a schedule of debtors, and an abstract of farms owned by the School Fund. Also resolves from the Joint Commission on Federal Relations minority report accepting that Utah and New Mexico could be admitted as slave states as long as California remained free, although slavery should not be extended further in the territories, that the Fugitive Slave law was constitutional and that the union should be preserved. The majority report also objected to the extension of slavery into the territories, were opposed to giving money to Texas, opposed the Fugitive Slave Law,and saw the threats of succession as an act of treason.
