Oral history interview with Rusty Hassan, a white man who recounts his life as a devoted jazz fan and music journalist who became closely involved in the D.C. Jazz scene when he moved to D.C. to attend Georgetown University. He recounts details of connections made with many famous jazz artists, performances he attended in the U Street area, and his later travels in Europe among the avant-garde European Jazz scene of the 1960s. After the U St. riots and the redevelopment of Southwest D.C.
