Description

Holograph, signed.Mrs. Frances H. Drake fears that her society will not be able to accomplish much fancy work because it now numbers only five working women. Drake says: "The sectarians have been advising some of our society not to work for the Mass. Society saying their only object was to pull down every good institution in the land etc." She mentions especially the Canada mission advocates. Drake has invited Mr. Wendell Phillips to lecture next week in Leominster. The Third Party is using "every means in their power to obtain voters for the coming election." James Gordon Carter lectured for them last week. [James Gordon Carter was a native of Leominster.] John Pierpont and Joshua Leavitt are to lecture. Drake asks about matters pertaining to the fair. She expects $25 or more to be contributed to the fair.
