Description

guitars Collected by Merlin Mitchell Transcribed by Kyle Perrin Reel 20 Item 3 Ivan Wages Fayetteville, Ark. February 20, 1950 Spanish Fandango Ivan..I haven't got the grip. I can't find my spot. M.....What's the name of that one? Ivan..The old Spanish Fandango— the way the Niggers use to play it. I knew an old Nigger named George Ballard— er— George Grey instead of Ballard— that died when he was around seventy years old. And he played it. Where he picked it up I don't know. M That same song? Ivan..The same song, the same way. His positions and his strings— he ran his guitar down to the Spanish keys is what he called it. And I'll try it and see how it comes out.
