Description

Racist caricature of an African American woman purchasing a pair of "flesh coloured silk stockings" in a hosiery store from a well-dressed white male sales clerk with a French accent. Depicts the woman standing at the counter in a bright pink floral patterned dress, and a huge yellow flower patterned hat adorned with numerous yellow flowers and a long white ribbon. She uses her monocle to inspect a pair of black stockings that the clerk is holding and which he has declared are of "de first qualite!" Another well-dressed dark skinned woman with a huge hat is seen in the doorway of the shop. Contains four lines of dialogue below the image.; Engd. by Chas.
