Description
Folder contains reports pertaining to the work of the Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools for Negroes to assist African American secondary schools in receiving Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools approval. The ACSSN worked with secondary and post-secondary schools to achieve educational standards set forth by the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. The Division of Negro Education in the Department of Public Instruction within the State of North Carolina forwarded the recommendations from the ACSSN to the SACSS as the approved intermediary between the organizations. The focus of the reports primarily entails the arrangement of the ACSSN Visiting Committee inspecting a selection of secondary schools throughout North Carolina who wish to receive recognition by the Southern regional accreditor. The school staff were expected to provide the Visiting Committee with detailed reports on school objectives, schedules, subject matter, and staff evaluations prior to the intended visit.
