This folder contains materials created/collected by the Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women. The Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women was formed at the state's first conference on battered women held in August, 1978 and its first meeting was held in January, 1979. The Coalition consists of shelters and advocacy organizations working to end violence against women by providing a voice for battered women and member programs; changing systems and institutions so they respond more effectively to the needs of battered women and their children; changing attitudes towards domestic violence; and supporting, educating, and connecting its member programs. This folder specifically contains materials related the the Coalition's work with African American women and families.
