Redding, a Georgia native, was an influential rhythm-and-blues and soul musician during the 1960s. Killed in an airplane crash in 1967, Redding was posthumously honored by a statue in Macon, Georgia, his hometown, and induction into both the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
