Dave Brubeck, famous jazz pianist, presented a concert on October 14, 1956, at the Yankton High School Auditorium, organized by the Yankton College Student Association. Brubeck and his band, Paul Desmond, Norman Bates, and Joe Morello, played to a crowd of three hundred at a seat cost of $2.50.
