Description

Dr. Walker (Founder, Teacher And President) Was Elected As A Teacher of Paine Institute, July 17, 1883. He Was Elected To Succeed Dr. Callaway As Second President In 1884, And Remained President Until His Death, May 17, 1911. Under His Administration, The Faculty Became Integrated; Holsey Hall, Haygood Hall, Cottages, And A Home For The President Were Constructed; And Paine Institute Became Paine College. Dr. Walker Is Also Considered One Of The Founders Because During His Tenure, Stability And Support Were Gained. He Was A Disciplinarian; And He Was Careful To See That The Curriculum Included Programs Suitable For All Of Those Who Entered.
