Parler Transcribed by Nathaniel Lucy Told by Stella Evans Huntsville, Arkansas December 20, 1959 Reel 323 Talk: Huntsville Story Stella Evans: Well this bluff over here in time, when Huntsville was first established here, they had court for the first time here, court week there. And as a man come there, he had either a yoke of oxens or mules - I forgot what which amount was said - but one of the two. And that big rock that lays up here on the bluff where you go up on, you know where Faubus lives? Ronald Scheuerman: Uh-huh. Evans: Well that rock was stood over like a porch and when it goin' to storm he went under there. And that lightning struck that rock and that rock fell on him and killed him. And they never did have no way of getting him out. The bones I guess and everything else is still in that rock. Scheuerman: Well I'll be darned. Bradley: Now that's the truth! Yeah, I've looked, I've put things in from the history of Arkansas. I've wrote them. A boy that used to live here got me to get him some items from what used to help me. Scheuerman: The history of Huntsville mostly. Evans: Yeah! I've got the history of Arkansas now, my part of when my mother and father married and all these old timers is in here.
