This includes the registration form, photographs, maps, and correspondence detailing the significance of West Park or Kelly Ingram Park located in Jefferson County, Alabama. The park was constructed in 1870 - 1871 and is part of the original plan for the city of Birmingham (est. 1871). This site was an assembly point for many marches during the Civil Rights Movement including the May 2 -7, 1963 Birmingham Campaign that began with the Children’s Crusade. Areas of significance include: Community Planning; Social/Humanitarian; Black History.
