Holograph, signed.In regards to the letter [written on Dec. 20, 1845, by Edward Morris Davis to Maria Weston Chapman, Call. No. Ms.A.9.2 v.21, p.143], where some China was promised to Maria W. Chapman, Edward Morris Davis informs her that the fair committee have decided not to send it. They intend to hold another fair about August, at the time of the annual meeting. Davis comments about the fair just held in Philadelphia: "We have sold more things today & we hope to clear over $1000!"In the postscript, Edward M. Davis comments favorably on a German novel, "Toussant," which [William Henry] Furness has translated.
