He is depicted wearing a dark jacket and high-collared white shirt.Spangenberg was, along with David Nitschmann, one of the original Moravian leaders in Georgia. Moravian missionaries first settled in Savannah in 1735, but the community dissolved in 1745, as attempts to minister to Native Americans and slaves proved unsuccessful.
