Correspondence, reports, and memos to the Bradens regarding the arrests of African Americans wanting to worship in white Jackson, Mississippi, churches; the desperate poverty in the Delta and the need for food and clothing there; the Schwerners' plans to set up a community center amidst the poverty in Meridian, Mississippi; the boycott against segregated cultural events, including the governor's inauguration, in Jackson; the need to start a petition asking for federal protection for civil rights workers during Freedom Summer; a legal document asking for more federal judges in Mississippi during Freedom Summer; a proposed medical service for Freedom Summer workers; the fear (and elation) experienced by civil rights workers and local residents during Freedom Summer.
