SCAR T-9: Judge Harold R. Boulware, Sr. Col, Sound, 29 minutes. Judge Harold R. Boulware, Sr., of Family Court of Fifth Judicial Circuit, is interviewed by Dr. Grace Jordan McFadden of the University of S. C. Boulware describes his education at "Harbison Agriculture Institute", the "Biddle Institute" (Johnson C. Smith University), and "Howard University Law School." He was the first chief legal counsel for state NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). He describes his efforts in "Elmore v. Rice" (white primary only case), "Briggs v. Elliott" (the Clarendon County school desegregation case that was eventually incorporated into Brown v. Board of Education), and trying to get equal pay for African-American teachers.
