Holograph, signedLetter written in pencilWilliam Lloyd Garrison sends a New Year's greeting and thanks Wendell Phillips Garrison for some apple butter. William Lloyd Garrison has been invited to lecture in New York on behalf of Italian unity, but he will decline on the grounds of health. He was glad to see that the Nation opposed the annexation of San Domingo, as proposed by President Grant. He thinks that Charles Sumner was also right in opposing it. William Lloyd Garrison encloses five dollars as payment for some photographs; he also tells how he distributed the photos
