View of an unidentified individual at a campaign fundraising party for Tom Houck (not pictured), a candidate for Atlanta City Council, in Atlanta, Georgia.Tom Houck is a pundit and former civil rights activist. He worked as an aide to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) from 1966 to 1968. From 1970 to 1972, he worked as field director for the Voter Education Project (VEP). In 1972, he was named deputy director of the Washington-based Youth Citizenship Fund where he worked to register young voters. In 1977, he began his career in radio, television and print journalism, which included a job hosting a talk show on Newsradio WGST from 1980 to 1990.
