Photograph of African American children at play on Division Street in Baltimore, Maryland. The activities of various groups of children are being lead by adult Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) supervisors. In the background to the left is the Henry H. Garnet Elementary School, which was located on Division near Lanvale Street and contained seventeen classrooms and a library. The school was in the middle of a block of three-story row houses. Although one parked car is visible, the street is closed to traffic to provide play space for the children. (Part of W.P.A. project #7012.)
