This folder contains meeting minutes from CORE/COFO staff meetings in the Fourth District (including Canton and Meridian) from 1964-1965. In many cases, they provide almost verbatim accounts of any number and variety of disagreements among COFO workers. The reader can almost watch the movement unravel in repeated but unresolved questions about lines of authority and how to deal with personality conflicts and increasing suspicion and divisions among various civil rights groups. Among the many topics discussed: budgets for freedom houses and community centers; school integration efforts; the economic boycott in Canton; testing local public accommodations to see whether they are complying with the Civil Rights Act and allowing African Americans to be served; organizing precinct meetings, county conventions, and Freedom Days; an explanation of the N.A.C.
