Long Grove Negro Baptist Church (Patterson, Woodruff County, Ark.); Cole, Charles, Brother

Description

Coll. by M.C. Parler Spoken by Brother Charles Cole Long Grove Negro Baptist Church Patterson, Ark. Reel 165 Item 4 The Pastor's Introduction of the Field Collector (I didn't turn the recorder on at the beginning, but Brother Cole is saying:) If I had a presented her befo' now, you would a com-po'ted yo' self diff'ent. I want to "tell you her mission. So, if you want to change, it's too late now. She is a representative of the University of Arkansas. One of the greatest institutions in the United States. And every one of you has a part of that University. Its arms are so broad until it reaches out anywhere in the state of Arkan-sas and takes in those who are distressed by diseases, if you can make it to the University - that's the hospital in X Little Rock, that's a part of the University of Arkansas, they will treat you just like they treat their own people. It was a part of the University of Arkansas - and I think sometimes that's the reason the politicians got excited 'bout ex-Gov'ner McMath. And all the Southern states seem to b be excited over the race question. And the University of Arkansas - It was a little colored woman that was admitted - (Here, doggone it, I had to change tapes!!!)
