Description

The Hermitage, famous plantation and estate of the McAlpin family since 1819. Present mansion built 1830, plantation settled 1783, and consists of 500 acres along Savannah River front. Many of the old slave huts and plantation buildings standing and partially destroyed can be viewed. Is probably the most famous and representative of ante-bellum plantations in the South.
