Description
J[ames] Silver ALS to Father, Mother, and Sister, February 3, [18]72. s.l., page 30. From a collection of 12 letters, each several pages long, that Silver composed during his 1872 visit to New Orleans, Louisiana. He recounted his journey from New York to Louisiana, as well as his time spent in and around New Orleans. Silver included 39 ink sketches of people and scenery throughout his letters.; "Negress going to market"; "A Gentleman + Jackass"; "(Slim Jim) Negro in Levee"; "A Milk Wagon"; "Negress"; "Algerian Coffee 'House'".
