Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white paper. Above the salutation the number "89" is written in pencil, while in the head- spine corner of the first page a checkmark is drawn, also in pencil. Along the fore edge of the first page, next to the salutation, there is a purple, oval stamp containing the words, "Garrison MSS."George Thompson writes to William Lloyd Garrison that he and his wife have returned from "the India House" where he was "denouncing the atrocious doings of that military fiend Sir Charles Napier in Scinde, and arraigning the Court of Directors for their conduct in the Pattara case." Thompson says he received Garrison's letter from Glasgow and was "grieved to hear" of his illness, remarking that he should have provided him with "warmer travelling clothing." He reports that "I have little to tell you" but says he "could not let the post go out without a word of sympathy."
