Sterling Plastics

Sterling slide rule of Everett Bratcher. This tool is a good representation of Everett Bratcher's 35 year cartographic career at the Defense Mapping Agency, as well as his 3 years serving as a Tuskegee Airmen with the 332nd fighter group in World War II and his lifetime interest in air and sea navigation. A slide rule is a mechanical analog computer used primarily for multiplication and division, and also for functions such as exponents, roots, logarithms and trigonometry.
