Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.On verso, the letter is addressed to "Saml. May Jr. Leicester, Mass." and it is postmarked with a red, circular stamp reading, "Pawtucket R.I. Jul 15."C.C. Burleigh writes to Samuel May reporting that they "had a good m[eetin]g last evening, better attended than we had ventured to hope. [William Lloyd] Garrison & [Parker] Pillsbury spoke, & filled up the time." Burleigh then discusses May's question about where to hold a convention on July 28, suggesting either Danielsonville or Rhodesville, Connecticut. He tells May that "Asa Cutler would probably be the best person to write to" to help set a location. He also suggests that May contact Charles L. Fisk[e] or H. Reed for information about Danielsonville. He says he spoke to Dr. Whitcomb about holding a meeting in Brooklyn, Connecticut but that they decided it would be better to try to hold a meeting in Willimantic, and tells May to contact "Warren Clark, who lives there, [and] could tell you more about that." Burleigh then begins a new paragraph, titled, "Evening" and tells May that they had another meeting with "a very good attendance today, & apparently a good impression has been made. Garrison has given great satisfaction to our friends."
