Pardo, Jean
Description
Viewed from Main Street is a shed with a sign, "Underground Railroad." The structure is on the narrow roadway which runs between Catherine and Main Street, below Midland Avenue. part of this road covers the Nyack Brook. Residents apparently believe that this shed was used to hide slaves who came to Nyack via the Underground Railroad. Village historian Jean Pardo wrote, "This structure is on the other side of Nyack brook, behind houses on Catherine Street. No info on who put the sign up, but I never saw it until the past year."
