Tribune Des Moines, Iowa M 0ctavus Roy Cohen HE'LL WRITE OF WAAC Florian Slappey's Creator^ Octavus Roy Cohen, creator of the widely-known Florian Slap-pey, fictional Negro man-about-town, is in Des Moines for a month's stay, Cohen, who said his "screwball" name has been described as "a journey from Rome to Jerusalem, with a stopover in London," will write an article about the WAACs. "I seldom write articles, having made my living for years on fiction, but I've been assigned by a national magazine to write about the womens' army auxiliary corps," he said Thursday at the Kirkwood hotel. Impressed. The writer, having visited Fort Des Moines army post and having gathered much advance ma----- terial, is highly impressed by plans for the corps.
