Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in major league baseball in the modern era and was elected to the baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. Duke Snider was a Hall of Fame center fielder renowned for his home run drives and superb defensive play with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Roy Campanella was the first African American catcher in Major League Baseball history and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1969.
