Description

This folder consists of reports of some of the threats, intimidation, arrests, and harassment of civil rights workers from 1963-1965. It also includes the familiar document, "Some Provisions [in the U.S. Code] for Federal Prosecution in Civil Rights," a handwritten list of church burnings in Mississippi during Freedom Summer, a memo by Lawrence Guyot detailing some last-minute procedures for the 1964 Freedom Vote, part of a letter from a Carleton College student about how, on his second day in Mississippi, he is now running the Jackson COFO office, and a 2-page list of Mississippi locations that had experienced "beatings, sluggings, cars overturned, shootings, bombings and burnings, testing [the public accommodations part of the Civil Rights Act] and being refused service or some sort of trouble, arrests, and unsolved murders" for April-May 1965 alone.
