Description

Most of the materials in this folder have to do with planning to organize whites--particularly white college students and desperate miners--in Southern communities and in Appalachia. The letters are written by and to a variety of people, mostly on this topic or on conferences related to the topic. Sam Shirah, a white civil rights activist from Florida, was either the recipient, writer, or subject of most of them.
