Nguyen, Tu-Uyen
Description
Oral history of Tu-Uyen Nguyen, born in 1972 in Saigon, Vietnam. Her father was part of the 1954 migration from North to South Vietnam where he met and married her mother. She left Vietnam as a boat refugee with her family in 1979 and passed through a refugee camp in Indonesia. Her family initially resettled in Falls Church, Virginia but they relocated to Southern California. She earned her undergraduate degree from UC Irvine, her Masters and Ph.D. in Public Health from UCLA and is currently a professor of Asian American Studies at Cal State Fullerton. She lives in Fullerton with her husband and 2 sons.Recorded Digitally
