Description

Group portrait of the Community Chorus of Pittsburgh, with Paul Lawrence Peeler as conductor. The Community Chorus of Pittsburgh performed during the annual convention of the National Association of Negro Musicians. Under Peeler's direction, the chorus performed "Oh Mary, Don't You Weep." This image also includes an inlaid portrait of J. Wesley Jones, guest conductor of the chorus at the convention on August 26, 1934. Under Jones' lead, the chorus sang "Deep River."
