Description
Document written by Lily Stonecipher, apparently for use in a Morgan County chancery suit, narrating a series of robberies committed by Confederate partisans against her between Dec. 1863 and Feb. 1865. Her testimony all takes the same form: that a band of robbers arrived at her house and stole a multitude of itemized articles belonging to her and her slaves. Part of a series of postwar litigation in Morgan Co. seeking damages suffered by loyal Unionists at the hands of Confederate partisans.
