Ben Carson was my first interest, partly because he was a neurosurgeon and partly because I felt that his demeanor was the best. Once he dropped out, I found John Kasich and voted him during the Republican Primary (my friend was livid that I had not voted for Ted Cruz, but it does say in the constitution that you need to be born in America, a technicality, but it's still there, that and he didn't seem that great either.) When Trump became the nominee I was hmm, that's kinda weird. I was never really keen on Hillary, I am a huge Kate McKinnon fan now though). I wasn't very excited about Bernie (very unlike my peers) but it's because I don't think you should ever take my money to fund other people. (I admit I wouldn't mind free college, but I don't want it to come from me later.) I much prefered Bernie over Hillary.
