I learned this song while a small child in Missouri. There was a family of Negros that lived close to us named- Well I don’t remember their last name but woman’s name we called her Old Aunt Mariah. She would come to our house and we would build a fire on the outside and all sit around it and sing. And they sing lots of songs and this one I remember.
